Belagavi: MP Suresh Angadi, who has been elevated as a minister of state for railways in the Modi government, has fulfilled the longtime dream of the people of Belagavi district by sanctioning the new Belagavi- Bengaluru Superfast Express. The train which commenced operations from 29th June is also fondly called as ‘Angadi Express’ by the people in general, attributing the credit to Suresh Angadi’s efforts.
People of the entire district rejoiced after the announcement of the new train. However, the allegations are being emerged that this train is not coming to the help of the passengers, especially from Athani, Raibag and the part of Chikkodi taluk, due to the nexus between the railway authorities and private bus owners.
The Angadi Express departs to Bengaluru from Belagavi every day at 9pm. But from the date this train started operations, the Miraj-Castlerock train (No.51405) is getting delayed, which is supposed to reach at 8.40pm to Belagavi. Miraj-Castlerock train is delayed by almost 50 minutes to one hour every day. If the train runs at the time, it would become the best link train to Angadi Express for the people of Athani, Raibag and Chikkodi taluks.
There are allegations that Miraj- Casterock train is getting delayed intentionally to help private bus operators. Because of the train is not running on proper timing, people from North-end taluks of the district are failing to get the link of the Angadi Express. There is a demand from the people that railway authorities should to run the Miraj- Castlerock train on time or delay the Belagavi- Bengaluru Superfast Express by 30 to 45 minutes until the Miraj- Castlerock is reached to Belagavi railway station.
The Miraj- Castlerock train passes through Vijay Nagar, Shedbal, Ugar Khurd, Kudachi, Raibag, Chikkodi Road, Bagewadi, Ghataprabha, Parakanatti, Paschapur, Suladhal, Sulebhavi and Sambra. Passengers allege that train run-up to Raibag at right time but later makes it delay. While in the reverse direction, the same train runs at the right time, although the same number of crossings it faces at both directions. The train departs Belagavi at 7.50 am and reaches Miraj at 11.30 am according to the time schedule.
