Belagavi: Urban development department has considered the complaint of social activist Rajeev Topannavar about the incompetence of Belagavi Smart City Project seriously, and instructed the Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation (KUIDFC) to conduct an inquiry.
The urban development department has received a total of 10 complaints from various cities of Karnataka the project is being implemented, and the complaint of Rajeev Topannavar has been given highest priority by keeping it at the first in the list. Undersecretary of the department, Lalithabai K has instructed KUIDFC to conduct inquiry and submit the complete details at the earliest.
In his complaint to Anjum Parvez, Principal Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary (Municipalities & UDA), Urban Development Department, Rajeev Topannavar alleged that the wrong selection of Project Monitoring Consultant(PMC) and the contractor for Integrated Command and Control Centre(ICCC) is the main reason behind the failure in project implementation.
Topannavar has claimed that Lehmar India was awarded the contract to the PMC. Lehmar never deployed a full team with the required expertise and experience as per the agreement with the Belagavi Small City Limited (BSCL). They hired freshers from college and always kept staff less than the agreement, which is nothing but playing with the public exchequer.
