Belagavi: flood affected Janawad villagers in Athani taluk have threatened boycotting of by-elections.
According to villagers, most of the houses in the village have been damaged to the recent dangerous flood, due to which hundreds of families lost their shelter. government neither released money for the repair of damaged houses nor for the construction new houses.
Villagers in a memorandum to the DC stated that, they have decided to boycott elections condemning the negligence of the government as well as local public representatives.
Villagers said around 1,300 houses have been damaged in the village, besides standing crops in hundreds of hectares has been washed away. Thus leading life without proper shelter and without any income has become difficult.
They alleged that no proper survey has been conducted regarding crop loss. Local tahasildar shows fingers towards deputy commissioner when asks. Flood affected villagers urged to fulfil their demands immediately.
Leaders of the village Ilalgouda Patil, Mohammad Kabalannavar, Gurubasu Kamble, Darbar Makandar, Basappa Yalashetti were present.
