Belagavi: Following the constant negligence towards the development of industrial areas in the city, industrialists and industrial labourers have threatened of boycotting the by-elections of Belagavi Lok Sabha constituency.
Belagavi is important Industrial growth centre & contributes next to Bangaluru in revenue. Industrial area in Belagavi is majorly located in Udyambag and Macche of Belagavi South constituency. More than 40,000 labours & Engineers work in this prominent Industrial area. Many key Products & Equipments needed for space project, Foundry, Machinery, Automobile, etc are manufactured in this Industrial area.
In a press release of Belagavi District Small Scale Industries Association (BDSSAI) led by Rohan Juvali and Shridhar Uppin stated that, in Belagavi there are many major export oriented industries are functioning & many foreign delegates visit to the company.
However the industrial area lack of basic amenities such as Road, Gutter, Streetlights, Public Drinking water facilities, Public Toilets etc. The current infrastructure scenario is in such a bad shape that the raw material/ finished products loaded in trucks cannot be transported due to the pathetic road conditions & the logistics get hampered causing lot of inconvenience.
MLA Abhay Patil had prepared an estimate of Rs 56 crore to resolve the above mentioned issues & boost industrial morale but unfortunately this proposal not implemented by government.
Now the Industrialists & workers are losing faith on the government & are deciding to boycott coming Loksabha by-elections of Belagavi to bring to the notice seriousness of the problem. Deliberations on this subject are gearing up & nearly 50-60,000 people in stake are planning to boycott the elections.
We urge concerned officials & MLA to take it seriously to avoid such situation & take immediate steps. We request the government of Karnataka to start the works as early as possible & avoid unnecessary problems said in the release.
