Belagavi: Belgaum District Small Scale Industries Association (BDSCIA) urged the government to allow manufacturers of submercible pumps and motors to participate in tender process of the government.
In this regard members of BDSCIA submitted a memorandum to the deputy CM Govind Karjol at Circuit House here on Friday. According to the memorandum, North-Karnataka is a major manufacturer and supplier of submersible pumps and motors, especially from Belagavi and Hubballi. But as per the government notification, they cannot participate in the tender process.
Memorandum says earlier it was in industrial policy to supply submersible pumps by SSI units of Karnataka, but it was removed and now the major quantities are procured from Tamil Nadu and Gujarat because of which the MSMEs of Karnataka are suffering. Industrialists urged to amend this into the upcoming industrial policy of Karnataka, which will create more employment, more business for foundry units, and new startups in the state and generate more revenue.
