Belagavi: Belagavi-Dharwad railway via Kittur, decades-old dream project is going to be real thanks to the minister of state for railways Suresh Angadi. Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman has given nod to the proposal of Rs 988 crores to the project of 73.10kms length in the budget tabled on Monday in the parliament. It has appeared in the ‘pink book’ of South Western Railways (SWR).
Karnataka Railway Infrastructure Development Corporation (K-RIDE) has conducted spot inspection in the month of October and November regarding the implementation of the project.
Last month itself SWR had prepared a detailed project report (DPR) estimating the cost of Rs 988 crores and sent it to its central office. Since the Belagavi MP Suresh Angadi is the minister of state for the railways, the project was expecting about getting the nod in the budget of 2020-21.
“The project has got a green signal and the work will begin soon. The project will be completed in the possibly shortest period. This is an opportunity for me to do good work and I have the pleasure of utilizing this opportunity properly”, Suresh Angadi said speaking to the Today Breakings.
The route of the project will be: Dharwad- Kyarakopp-Kittur-Hirebagewadi-MK Hubli-KK Koppa- Yallur- Belagavi. The project will have 11 railway stations and total of 140 bridges. The spots for the railway stations and bridges already finalized. Due to the special interest of Suresh Angadi, the survey work was conducted at the shorted period and DPR sent to the railway department. Angadi had completed every process required to get a green signal to the project in the budget.
